      The type of this lesson:Listening and speaking

      Teaching methods: Double activities teaching method, Question-and-answer activity teaching method,

      Pair work or individual work method.

      Teaching aims: Key words and vocabulary of this unit.

      To understand time expressions and school subjects.

      Teaching Important and difficult Points:

      Key vocabulary - o’clock, half, past, art, chemistry, history, about, what about …,

      Key structures-It’s six o’clock.

      It’s half past six.

      Teaching tools: a tape recorder, flash cards

      Teaching steps:

      Step1: lead in:

      Show a picture of time proverbs and ask what they are about. They may answer they are about time. Then I ask “Do you want to know how to express time in English?” If they say “yes”, I say “Today we’ll learn Module7 My school day Unit 1 I like math.

      Step 2: Show the teaching aims:

      Today we’ll grasp the key words and vocabulary of this unit,

      To understand time expressions and school subjects.

      Step 3: Use number 1, 2, 12,3,30 to lead into the time 12:00 and 3:30 point out three thirty is half past three. Tell them how to use o’clock and half past.

      Step 4: Show the new words with pictures. Ask them to use I like and I don’t like to practise the subjects.

      Step 5: Ask and answer: Ask them to work in pairs to practice the time and the subjects.

      Step 6: Work together and help each other. Ask them to write down what subject they have on weekdays. It includes the time and the subjects.

      For example:

      “I have English at eight o’clock on Monday. I like English. I don’t like art. ”

      Step 7: Listen to the tape and answer the questions. In this part they will close their books and answer

      1: What day is it today?

      2: What subject does Betty like best?

      Step 8: Reading: Ask them to open their books and read the dialogue. At the same time, ask them to look at the screen and check the true sentences.

      Ask them to read the dialogue again to finish the blanks

      Step 9: Do some exercises.

      Step 10: Summary: Ask them to have a summary by themselves and ask them what we have learned today.
