一、教材分析
本單元的中心話題是“偉人的品格，幾位偉人的生平”內容涉及“伊萊亞斯的故事”“納爾遜曼德拉的生平簡介”而主要內容是圍繞當代英雄納爾遜曼德拉展開的，通過一系列的有關練習來。
二、學情分析
高一1班雖為實驗班，但學生的水平參差不齊，且大部分學生的思維活動，學習熱情，表現欲望不如初中時高漲，這有待于教師在平時教學中不斷鼓勵與培養學習熱情，根據這些特點，可采用小組合作方式，以好帶差，以點帶面，在師生互動中實現教學任務和目標。

1、知識目標
Get the students to know about the story of Nelson Mandela and Elia
2、能力目標
Master the skills of reading including （guessing words, skimming，scanning，post－reading collusion.）
3、情感目標
Reading the passage is to attempt to let Ss learn some noble spirit from the Great man.
四、教學流程
1、課前準備
向學生提出要求，布置學習任務，讓學生合作預習新課，完成預習練習。
2、導入
通過現代偉人志剛、劉翔的介紹，引出偉大人物具備的品質，進行頭腦風暴，擴散思維，為下文的討論埋下伏筆，同時調動學生學習積極性，使課堂氣氛活躍起來。
3、閱讀能力訓練
切入主題后，教師利用師生合作、生生合作等學習方式，開展英語閱讀訓練，培養學生猜測文章大意，略讀、尋讀、細讀等各項閱讀能力，進一步幫助學生掃清理解文章之障礙。
4、拓展（討論）
學完后，讓學生討論，中心人物曼德拉一代偉人具備的品質，學習偉人的優良品質，倡導做一名對社會有貢獻的人。
