韓國教育部認可的196所正規大學
基本情況
韓國的基礎教育包括小學6年，初中3年，高中3年共12年；高等教育專科2—3年；本科一般4年，醫科（含韓醫、牙醫）6年；研究生教育分碩士和博士兩個階段：碩士一般為2年，博士一般為3年。韓國實行四級學位制：專門學士學位、學士學位、碩士學位、博士學位。
專科畢業發畢業證書，同時授予專門學士學位；4年制本科畢業后發畢業證書，同時授予學士學位；醫科6年畢業后發畢業證書，也授予學士學位，但可以申請攻讀博士學位。
韓國實行專科教育的機構稱專門大學；實行本科教育的機構為大學校（一般為綜合性大學）或者大學；實行研究生教育的機構為大學院，大學院多數設在大學校里，也有單獨設立的大學院。
韓國的高等教育機構根據設立形式和經費來源渠道，分為國立、公立、私立三種，除個別公立學校可以由設立的地方政府自行批準外，都必須經教育科學技術部批準，國家認可的高等教育機構都必須接受教育科學技術部的監督和管理。
韓國高等教育機構的授課語言通常使用韓語，也有少數課程的授課語言為英語。
2011年韓國共有認可的專科大學（韓語稱專門大學，英語名稱一般使用College）148所，提供本科和本科以上教育的四年制大學196所，單獨設立的只授予碩士、博士學位的大學院20所。
韓國的學院(韓語稱學院，英語名稱一般使用Institute 或College )主要是由社會力量創辦的非學歷教育機構。
