一.用作及物動詞
1.使受傷
No one was seriously hurt in the traffic accident.在這次交通事故中沒有人受重傷。
2.使疼痛
The tight shoe hurt my foot.這只鞋太緊,把我的腳擠疼了。
3.傷...的感情;使(感情)受到傷害
He inadvertently hurt her feelings.他無意中傷了她的感情。
4.損害,危害
The scandal hurt the government's image badly.這丑聞嚴重損害了政府的形象。
二.用作不及物動詞
1.疼痛
My right leg hurts.我右腳疼。
2.帶來痛苦;造成損失
It won't hurt to postpone the meeting for a few more days.
會議再推遲幾天也無妨。
三.用作名詞
1.(精神上的)創傷[(+to)]
It was a real hurt to her vanity.
這對她的虛榮心真是一個打擊。
2.傷;痛
The massage made the hurt go away.按摩使疼痛消失了。
四.用作形容詞，表示(心靈等)受到傷害的
There was a hurt look in her eyes.

五.be hurt后可接動詞不定式或that從句。
She was hurt to think of his being left alone.
