一、of表示“領(lǐng)屬或所有關(guān)系”，作“屬于”“……的”解
例如：

二、of表示“數(shù)量、分量”、“部分”或“種類”
例如：
1.a sheet of paper
一張紙
2.two pieces of chalk
兩支粉筆
三、of表示“所有格或同位的關(guān)系”
例如：
1.He is a friend of mine. (=He is one of my friends.)
他是我的一個朋友。
2.The leaves of that tree are green.
那棵樹的葉子是綠的。
四、of表示“作者、行為者”或“行為的主體”
例如：
1.the works of Luxun (=Lu xun's works）
魯迅的著作
2.the television of John Baird
約翰·貝爾德發(fā)明的電視機。
五、of在美國英語中表示時刻，指“差”，其作用相當于to
例如：
I went to see my first teacher at a quarter of (=to) eight yesterday morning.
我昨天早晨八點差一刻去看了我的啟蒙老師。
